Hip Hop Panstula uses music to heal .#Pasopa

Since October 2015 South African universities have been in between a rock and a hard place.

Students became tired of talking , begging and negotiating with Varsity Managers over the yearly fees and residence increment. They with fine charcoal drew momentum from the well of the #RhodesMustFall movement (which advocated for the removal of apartheid reflecting statues. These were seen as instruments of white supremacy and all races were not comfortable with them) and started the #FeesMustFallMovement.

Color , age , political affiliation and gender were written with white ink on white paper as students marched , torched ,chanted and got arrested to have their plight heard.
During this struggle we saw celebrities like AKA, Ntsiki Mazwai , Gareth Cliff and many urging students to fight for what they believe in as this should be a democratic country.

The pressure caved in when the president of the republic Jacob Zuma announced that there will be 0% fee increment for the academic year of 2016.

As the country calmed down to sit for exams. Student leaders at NWU Mafikeng campus prepared themselves for 2016. On their publicly known demand list where the following :
-0% fee increment .
- True reflection if the Potch, vaal. Mafikeng merger .
- Ending of outsourcing.
- Zero financial exclusions for academically deserving but poor students.

In the opening weeks of January when the University prepared itself to welcome prospective undergraduate students the leadership had one demand namely "The registration of students with outstanding balances before the registration of first years".
This put a halt to the university's registration process and as an alternative measure they asked students to register online. A mistake in the eyes of many as the complaint was the accessibility of facilities to register and the capacity of students to use such a registration method. NWU management struck back by issuing an interdict to anyone who intended on disrupting the registration process and then forged ahead with registration.
Then president of the SRC Linda Benz Mabengwane(reffered to as Benz) violated the interdict by protesting against the registrations. As a result he was suspended pending disciplinary hearing and was later found guilty of 80 percent of all charges leveled against him. Benz is banned from studying for 3 years.

The university further dissolved the SRC that served with Benz and imposed an SRC formed from leaders of student substructures. Students boycotted the inauguration of the imposed SRC stating that they would rather go back to the ballot box and elect new leaders. This boycott is what brought about the violent clashes seen on media. The university's private security went on to shoot students with rubber bullets during the demonstrations. It is alleged that live ammunition was utilized. The university has denied the claims until a student who was operated on had a silver bullet lodged in her foot. The university said it will investigate.
In the eve of what is known as "Battle of the great hall" , The science center(a place with science projects to encourage High School children to pick Science careers) and the buildings above it were licked by fire. Damage caused on the 24th of February 2016 saw NWU Mafikeng close its gates for an indefinite period. Newspapers reported that Omphile "Etto" who was then the residence manager's house was torched. Etto had lost his motorbike to fire earlier when he assisted in shooting students with rubber bullets at "the battle of the great hall"

On Check Point E-News the university confirmed that the buildings that have been damaged are not directly connected to teaching and learning as only The science center, the rector's ,vice rector and the registrar's office caught fire. The university maintained that they closed their gates for the safety of students and stability.

Students have since taken to social media with the hashtag #OPENNWUMAF . Their requests to be moved to Potch and Vaal to carry on learning were declined. The university announced that it will be ready for operation on the 29 of March 2016.

To stand in solidarity with students . Veteran rapper Hip Hop Panstula whose real name is Jabulani Tsambo will be releasing a song called Pasop. He will shoot the music video outside the university and has called for students to peacefully demonstrate on the day in question. Jabulani's mother is a well respected lecturer at the university.

HHP aims to achieve peace from all parties with his music. Words have failed . Guns and stones have failed. Will HHP's music go beyond the downlaods,Facebook and Twitter?

we wait to see

Cassper Nyovest fights with his homeboy

#FillupTheDome is an exciting venture for South African artists. It will benchmark to all "important" people in the corporeal world as to how far  or how capable a local artist is or can be. The journey for award winning artist Cassper Nyovest whose real name is Refoloe Phoolo has been rocky. He had an encounter with AKA at a club before the release of  MIMI which trended on twitter for a reasonable period of time. He addressed the media in the song for reporting lies about him and he further mentioned that it was because they are jealous of his success.  The song was warmly received but later questioned by people on social networks who accused the Mahikeng born star of bragging. In Cassper's defense we made the following observation. It is okay for a rapper to talk about his struggles but he cannot talk of his success ? that is redundant.

Cassper has been replying tweets and facebook posts with the hash tag #Fillupthedome of late . We came across a squabble between him and Fifi Cooper's deejay. This is someone who potentially went to school with him and hang out with him during their come up days. This is a week after Cass' prodigy Chad da Don said he wont help him fill up the dome. WHooa hectic

BURGERSFORT WANTS PRESIDENTIAL ADDRESS

We as Hip Hop Cares Foundation advocated for fair comment , Credible journalism and equality within the Hip Hop arena of our operation scope ( Burgersfort, Nelspruit and Witbank(new)). We congratulate everyone who has created blogs in the name of pushing Hip Hop as a whole while the blogs serve their close friends only.

HIP HOP NEWS

It is difficult to keep your head up as an upcoming rapper. You to know how to battle , diss and make real good tracks. It would seem some have covered the elements above while others hide in plain sight while confronted with the opportunity to prove their "SKILLZ".
Two months ago we(Hip Hop Cares) came under the gun ourselves with Lil chief , Cru mayor , Yoggy Bar and Dizz.  Big Swazi put out a public display of warm klapping on a track called Disaster Rhymes . He accused us of hate , He went in on Dizz (2 whole verses) and dissed Shiela Mmutle as well. It wasnt long before he was silenced by Dizz's response called "BLUNT" in which he calls him out on dissing women and pure rap skills. This lead to the two emcees deciding to finish this battle at our winter event (THIS JULY).

On the other hand , Lil Chief , Cru mayor and yoggy bar did not reply. It is understandable as they were not the subject of the track. The excuses that come with not replying was as follows : He has low sound quality , He is not worth it , he wants attention , I dont do diss tracks  , i just do good music. We at Hip Hop Cares say the above is "UnHip-Hoply" of these rappers.

Just when the dust has settled. Genesis announced that Monster saint is joining their stable, subsequently the trio went to do a feature with King Marvel(Cru mayor's arch rival). Skillz being a member or affiliate of DJ sputla's camp (who leaked disaster rhymes) was also on the track.
#MrPresident did not spare his feelings about Skillz's the track. He went on to call Skillz whack. This silenced the newcomer on social media but he went on to cook a come back in the form of a diss track(link below). When Cru mayor thought he could hide behind the same excuses he previously used, it did not work out. When this story was written he was trending on facebook with funny memes.

The social media splash was so funny that close friends and fans could not hold back but join in the laughter. Everyone expects him to reply and he is surely feeling the heat. He has a choice to either lose credibility with his fans and friends by not replying (he already is) or he can man up and diss Skillz.

Hip Hop is taking over Burgersfort. Pay respect now or forever owe us interest .

Hip Hop Cares Winter event - details coming soon.

Tracks
Big Swazi - Disaster Rhymes
Dizz Thee Alpha- Blunt
Skillz- Taking Shots(Cru mayor Diss)

Freedom or Fame - A breakdown

I recently discovered that Tuks is financially struggling and for some reason this was not news to my ears. The "bona fela” hit maker disappeared from the scene right after the drop if his album "Footprints". 2 years ago i met a guy who was trying to negotiate airplay with me for the whole album, this dude litterally wanted me to throw in 2 songs on every show i presented. If this was not a red flag that Tuks was majoring in broken finances then i must be an ignorant living being.

The newspapers splashed this with full scale pictures of the Mahikeng originating star. I want you to note that if it was a mere album promotion they would have just had a corner picture of him but i will save that argument for another day. After the news shattered i found myself picking up pieces of an ex legend with Freedom or Fame trolling the background. BlackLez's bars locked me better and I for the first time heard his cry through the teeth of that whining beat. It was not about Tuks losing his house and car any more, it was far from my co-workers who grew up in Mahikeng who for some stinging reason where popping Champaign on Tuks' downfall.

Blacklez's choice of beats could have not been better, I mean if you want people to hear what you saying why would go for big hats and over-rated 808's? The basic baseline and synth allowed him to rap at a pace that captures every feeling molded on every word. That "Thank you" Mama ad lib when the song begins had me thinking of Eminem when he cleaned his closet out. There is a paradox here is Lez's closet has already been cleaned out for him. He takes justified shots at MOVE magazine for cleaning his closet. Connect this with what is happening to Tuks right now, it would seem the media is holding every public figure hostage and the ransom is living a perfect life. Reason laments about this situation on the remix of the song. On his verse (Reason) he speaks about how he should have been warned that chasing your dream and inspiring people comes with such a hefty price. The pun lands right when he says “So i can choose to drop 10k when they ask for my 2 cents". The way I hear it , Reason feels like you not given options as a public figure and your finances are connected to this prison called the limelight. Freedom or Fame?

You could either be honest in your music or you could just be broke. Lez compares himself to a modern day Steve Biko right? How many artists have claimed to write what they like but ended up sounding like recylced garbage when the hunger broke through their lips?
"I have learned to deal with lip like Beyonce" is one of the lines that tell you that this song goes beyond another rapper bragging about how "dope" he is. The line has connection to Jay-z, An artist who broke away from drug dealing life which offered him jail time and no freedom at and actually went into the music industry which offered him ...well freedom. The glaring parallels drawn by Lez's penmanship cannot be ignored. The freedom he speaks of here is not only social freedom but its finacail freedom too hence the dropping of struggle hero names in his verse.

The freedom to break away from the stereotype of black fathers especially when no meaningful relationship exists between the mother and father. The truth will set you free right? Lez's confesses to being a dead beat dad in the opening stages of his daughter's life but now is mending fences. I am not sure if Reason's last line was sponsored or not but Pabi Moloi definitely heard it.

Prokid basically sums it up as he walks us through "a week with a hustler". We go out there working for money to impress "abo mama mia" while Umama is struggling, now tell me you do not consider that as modern day imprisonment?

I personally urge Blacklez to go around making remixes of this song with all the cats in the industry because i am sure they all have a story to tell on this particular topic.

I want freedom, I want fame, I want money ....is it all possible? Blacklez doesnt seem to think so. Unlike Reason, you have been warned.
